Optimize your CAD geometry to reduce cycle times, minimize tooling wear, and lower your overall piece-part cost.
1. CNC Machining (Milling & Turning)
- Internal Radii: Maintain corner radii of at least 1/3 of the cavity depth. Avoid sharp internal corners which require expensive EDM processes.
- Wall Thickness: Minimum recommended wall thickness for metals is 0.79mm (0.031") and 1.5mm (0.060") for plastics.
- Hole Depths: Keep hole depths under 4x the diameter to prevent drill wander and tool breakage.
2. Custom Injection Molding
- Draft Angles: Apply a minimum of 1° to 2° draft on all vertical faces to facilitate part ejection.
- Uniform Wall Thickness: Prevents sink marks and warping during the cooling phase. Target 1.2mm to 3mm generally.
Automated DFM Feedback
When you upload an IGES or STEP file to our Client Portal, our software automatically highlights geometric issues and quotes the tooling cost instantly.
